First things first, travel fills my soul. I’m not even entirely sure what it is about it, but there is something about being in a new place, trying new foods, meeting new people, enjoying new music — it all really makes me happy. This January has been insane. After wrapping up the holidays, I headed down to Lafayette, Louisiana to visit some family and photograph some gorgeous seniors. You can check out one of those sessions here and check back soon for an extended senior session I shot with a group of gals from Lafayette High School!!

After Louisiana, I popped over to Mississippi and spent some time there before heading to Mexico. Not only did I get to shoot with Catherine Rhodes Photography, but I also just had the perfect opportunity to reset and recharge before this year really kicks into gear. If you missed all of the craziness this past year held, this post will catch you up to speed.

When you send two photographers traveling to such a beautiful place, you’re destined to end up viewing an insane number of photos. In all seriousness, it was fun to be in front of the camera for a change and get to take some photos in this gorgeous oasis. Catherine is amazing at what she does and you can visit her website here.

If you know me at all, you know that large birds (namely pelicans) are not my fave and at this moment, one had begun strutting across the beach towards us so it was time to move locations……

Also, quick s/o to Carmex… Catherine might have laughed the entire trip, but I swear by this stuff and it saved my lips through this long stretch of travel.
